A Very Random Thought On Callings

Taking turns.

This is a completely random thought this morning and just a personal opinion.

We're probably getting a new Stake President soon and this musing appeared in my head.  Do you know one of the reasons we rotate (hopefully) leadership and high profile positions among our many members?  Besides the better chance at cross-training for more of our members...it's so old politics can die.

Bless everyone's heart who is good enough to volunteer for such a position, but every single one of us is flawed.  Our natural blind spots tend to stack up after a while and old politics need to die.

Rotation is very rejuvenating for all involved.

Says me.

  1. Agreed! It's also refreshing for that same reason when new people move into a ward.

    1. Nichole,

Sorry your comment went to spam for some reason and I had to unspam it. Yes! New people in the ward is always a good thing. Same effect, I've certainly noticed that in our ward over the last decade.

  2. I agree. It is certainly an aspect of the Mormon culture that is not discussed a lot, but it requires adaptation from all. We learn to work together and to accept the authority of others. It isn't always easy, but it is usually always a learning experience.

    1. "Learning to accept the authority of others." Yep, that's a great point...I think it ties into respect somehow, just simple respect and being mindful of the group as a whole.
